This vineyard is tucked back in the coast range about 5 minutes west of Carlton, Oregon. The vineyard is certified organic by Oregon Tilth and is planted between 450-600 feet elevation on a east facing slope. This wine is made from Pommard clone and Dijon 777 and 115 clone grapes. We used native yeasts for fermentation and aged in neutral oak French barrels.
Visually this wine is a stunner – a deep dark garnet in the glass. On the nose we get red cherry, raw artichoke, spice and great salinity, perhaps due to the persistent marine weather that creeps over the mountains most of the year. On the palate this wine expresses subtle darker fruits, boysenberry and dark cherry. It has excellent minerality and salinity with a finish of white pepper.
