Armstrong Vineyard is in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. This vineyard was planted in 2007 and is organically farmed. The vineyard site is made up of the sandy well-draining soil, mid-hill on the southeast end of the Chehalem Mountains. This spot has warm days and cool nights with regular fog, creating ideal ripening conditions. This wine is made from Pommard and Dijon 667 clone grapes. We used native yeasts for fermentation and aged the wine in French barrels (3 neutral oak and 1 new).
This wine is a classic representation of Ribbon Ridge style. This years vintage is on the lighter side with nice a nice translucence at the rim. It has strong black cherry, and herbaceous notes on the nose. On the palate it delivers raspberry, fennel, and pepper, in a long and complex finish. The tannins are soft and silky, and the acid is quite noticeable.
