Armstrong Vineyard is in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Planted in 2007, this vineyard is organically farmed and is made up of the sandy, well-draining soil. The site is mid-hill on the south end of the Chehalem Mountains, and is advantageously situated for ideal ripening conditions, with warm days, cool nights, and regular fog to help the grapes stay on the vine longer. This wine is made from the Pommard and Dijon 667 clones. We used native yeasts for fermentation and aged the wine in French barrels (three neutral oak and one new).
This wine is a classic representation of Ribbon Ridge style. It has strong black cherry and herbaceous notes on the nose. On the palate, it delivers raspberry, fennel, cedar, and some minerality, in a long and complex finish. The tannins are soft and silky, and the acid is quite noticeable.
